Grand Hyatt plants flowers at school

Grand Hyatt Doha organized the planting of a large number of plants and flowers at the Bonaparte School yesterday (Feb.20,2012).

The hotel is known for having large and well maintained gardens throughout the property, and has been working to promote greener thinking among young people here after working with institutions such as Doha English Speaking School to take part in a planting session last year.

Director of engineering at the hotel, Yannick Jernival decided to repeat the initiative this year, and yesterday he expressed his belief that “it is essential that kids have access to the outdoor environment, giving them a first-hand experience of the natural world”.

Jernival said: “Being a father of a four year old son, I think it is important to create a beautiful multi-sensory play environment with creative choices for children that encourage their cognitive, social and emotional development.”

Horticulture manager at the Grand Hyatt, Mohammed Taha will also be placing a number of natural elements within the children’s environment at the school, such as shrubs, trees, perennials, herbs and vegetables.

The spokesperson said: “The children can then experience the wonder of nature, while learning the importance of caring for the natural environment and gaining pleasure from their surroundings,”
